Kelly & Nico

Living in Europe and having met through mutual friends on a skiing weekend in Burcherer Switzerland, it was not surprising that Nicholas proposed to Kelly when spending another luxury weekend in a mountain resort nearby. “We were hiking up very challenging terrain and at the end when we had reached our destination, Nicholas proposed.  I was tired but so ecstatic, and of course there were plenty of tears,” remembers Kelly.

When it was time for Kelly and Nico as he is fondly known, to choose the location for their wedding, the decision was easy.  Both Kelly and Nico reside in Switzerland but chose the elegant setting of The Plantation in Cooroy to celebrate their nuptials the Australian way. Kelly’s father had been restoring a vintage car and the 1924 Delage became the inspiration behind the sophisticated styling for their wedding day. “My father and his friend had spent five years restoring this beautiful automobile so being driven to the ceremony in it was a special part of my day,” recalls Kelly.

Kelly and Nico decided on a Catholic ceremony that took place in a very private area close to Noosa Beach. Their ceremony was witnessed by 50 of their closest family and friends from both Europe and Australia. The theme for the wedding was one of pure elegance, and Kelly wore a gorgeous bridal gown by internationally renowned bridal wear designer Jenny Packham, whose gowns adorn many a Hollywood celebrity and are regularly seen on the red carpet of Los Angeles. The gown, embellished with intricate beading and luxurious fabric was accessorised with a soft floral bouquet and matched perfectly in combination with Nico’s Hugo Boss suit.

Kelly and Nico chose the beaches of Noosa as the backdrop for their wedding photography , and photographer Jodi Mc Donald captured the day completely with many stunning images. “We could not have been any happier with the photos that Jodi took on our wedding day. We specifically wanted informal, relaxed photos, and Jodi delivered that and so much more. What we love about the photos is the sentiment that Jodi caught, so expertly and without us even knowing she was there!” said Kelly. “The end result shows just how much she really loves her job.” Once the photos were over, Kelly and Nico were driven back to the Plantation in the classic Deluge to begin their celebrations.  They entered to a rousing applause from their guests who had arrived earlier by bus.

On arrival at the Plantation, guests were greeted by butlers and served a traditional Chilean drink – a small but special touch to interlink Nico’s heritage and culture into the celebration. Gourmet food and superb wine was a feature of the evening with dancing till late under the stars. The long reception tables were decorated with vintage style roses in soft pinks and a romantic outdoor setting was achieved with the help of a beautiful marquee. The perfectly manicured gardens of The Plantation, just 20 minutes from Noosa, staged an exquisite reception. The stunning country estate allowed Kelly and Nico to showcase their personal style and delivered an unforgettable event that their guests will find hard to forget.

Kelly and Nico wanted an intimate celebration with family and friends and a wedding day that expressed the importance of love and commitment. “Our wedding day was a dream, the weather was warm, the location was perfect and our treasured guests witnessed our truly special day,” Kelly said. “The happiness, smiles, laughter and love throughout the day were great, but my most special memory was seeing tears in the eyes of Nico when he saw me walking towards him.” Growing up in Brisbane Kelly spent many memorable holidays in Noosa, and when Kelly and Nico visited Australia together, Nico got to experience the beauty of Noosa firsthand when they decided to celebrate News Years Eve, Noosa style.

“We decided on Noosa for our wedding destination, not only because we love the area, but we also thought it was the most amazing location to really ‘show off’ Australia to our overseas family and friends.” ‘It was such an amazing day and all the guests fell in love with Noosa and the surrounding areas,” recalls Kelly. Guessing from the amazing time had by all, Noosa certainly lived up to its reputation and truly impressed everyone.
