Real Weddings – Alecia & Timothy by Studio Impressions Photography
Although Alecia and Tim both lived in Melbourne they didn’t meet until holidaying separately in Noosa. Romance soon blossomed on their return home and after some time Timothy proposed to Alecia while on another beach side holiday, this time in Sydney.
Holidays by the beach had always held fond memories for both Alecia and Tim so they decided to get married in Noosa, the very place where they first met. They both love the relaxed, yet elegant vibe of Noosa and wanted their wedding day to reflect a casual elegant theme while at the same time, holding special meaning. Alecia and Timothy chose to have a traditional church ceremony and then celebrated with family and friends at Sails Restaurant Noosa.
Even though Alecia is an event planner she engaged the services of CL Weddings and Events to ensure co-ordination was precise and professional, and the styling true to their vision, this enabled Alecia to relax and enjoy her day. The couple, both ‘foodies’, loved the fact that they could host a reception at one of their favourite restaurants, which also happened to be positioned right on the beach. After arriving at the reception, Alecia and Timothy sneaked away for their beach side sunset shots as earlier they had decided to cut short the formal photography to join guests for pre-dinner drinks. Alecia and Timothy enjoyed the evening so much they were one of the last to leave the reception.
“I will never forget walking into the church on my Dad’s arm to see Tim waiting to become my husband with all of our closest friends and family there. I’m not sure how I held it together on the day as remembering that moment now, brings me to tears!”
The Details…
A specially designed motif symbol (which portrayed the couple’s unity) was created for Alecia and Tim to feature on all stationery.
The couple chose a neutral colour palette for the styling of the day with a splash of vibrant orange to create a gorgeous, bold contrast. White and green blooms were showcased with rustic foliage’s and orange roses.
The bride created a moss table plan that greeted guests at the door and also accentuated the natural styling element of the day.
Brass table numbers in antique boxes featured on each table.
Candles and tea-lights were abundantly placed throughout the restaurant and added a soft romantic ambiance to the space.

Real Wedding – Shantelle & Marty by Calli B Photography
Sometimes the best laid plans simply don’t happen and that was certainly the case when Marty’s planned New Years Eve proposal was foiled when his girlfriend, Shantelle prematurely found the engagement ring! Despite being unexpected (the couple had only been dating five months), Shantelle was estatic and accepted the proposal and the ring with glee.
Both Marty and Shantelle loved Maleny and the Hinterland region, they visited the area often and Shantelle regularly made reference to it being a glorious wedding location. The couple wanted a rustic, country style wedding and chose a vintage church in Maleny to hold their traditional ceremony. They then celebrated their reception with family and friends at the Terrace Restaurant Maleny.
Shantelle and Marty wanted their wedding to feature home-made elements and much of their styling had a very eclectic, ‘craft-inspired’ feel. Paper flowers, chalkboards, vintage jars and eco paper featured prominently throughout the wedding designs, and the couple worked tirelessly to make many of the wedding essentials themselves.

Real Wedding – Lisa & David by Studio Impressions Photography
Even though Lisa and David worked with one another, it wasn’t until a corporate event bought them together socially, that they had the opportunity to get to know each other better. After months of dating, and a week before Lisa’s birthday, David decided to pop the question. Being a romantic at heart, David arranged a beach picnic under a small tent containing a picnic basket, fresh flowers and champagne to propose. Lisa was completely overwhelmed and caught by surprise, and to this day remembers it as one of the happiest days of her life.
According to Lisa, the same emotions came flooding back on her wedding day. Lisa and David were married at Hidden Grove Noosa, and then celebrated their reception with family and friends at Sails Restaurant. Lisa describes her wedding style as ‘Vintage Elegance’ and much of the décor, flowers, and details of the day reflected a very classic ‘old world’ feel with touches of lace, crystal and candle light.
“The whole day was fantastic, with so many highlights, it is difficult to single anything out, though a special memory I have is when I looked towards David and saw him standing at the end of the aisle waiting for me with a small tear in his eye. It was a special moment for me.”
The bridal gown is a Lucy DiBella design featuring a fitted strapless dress with a small fish tail train. Chantilly corded lace was overlaid onto the gown and a vintage brooch detailed belt finished the look.
Lisa also wore a single David Austin rose in her hair rather than a veil.
The bridesmaids wore silk chiffon flowing knee length dresses in a light blush pink/peach colour. Each dress was slightly different in design.
The ceremony featured hanging lanterns and ribbon florals placed in the trees. Antique white chairs and aisle petals were also added as part of the theming at the ceremony.
The reception featured lace table runners and crystal vases with blooms in white, soft pink and blush apricot.
A chill out area allowed guests to enjoy pre-dinner drinks and canapés while overlooking the ocean. Décor pieces including lounges and ottomans featured here.

Real Wedding – Chrystal & Josh by Chesterton Smith Photography
Josh met Chrystal on the dance floor at a local club that he frequently visited with friends. Josh was instantly attracted to Chrystal and he promptly asked her out on a date, to which Crystal obliged. After 30 minutes into their first date Josh was smitten and convinced that he had met the girl he was going to marry, and his assessment of the situation certainly lived up to his appraisal, proposing to Chrystal five months after their first date. Josh surprised Chrystal by taking her on a weekend away to a luxury boutique resort in North Queensland, where he asked her to marry him during a secluded afternoon walk on the beach.
Josh and Chrystal set a wedding date for just six months after their engagement so preparation and planning was foremost in their minds. They both wanted an elegant yet relaxed wedding day, and chose a vintage country theme for their styling. A feature of lace and gingham was showcased through the details of the day, and unstructured floral designs were also included. Josh and Chrystal chose to have a marquee style wedding on a family property. Chrystal’s father built the arbor they were married under, and later, a three course sit down dinner was served to guests in the beautifully styled marquee.

Real Wedding – Megan & Nicholas by Karen Buckle
Megan and Nick were introduced to each other by Nick’s cousin at a funky little restaurant in South Beach, Miami. After a feast consisting of a divine seafood lunch and maybe one too many mojitos, Nick and Megan felt an instant connection and soon after began a three year relationship. While on a camping holiday, Nick popped the question over a bottle of Dom Perignon champagne and presented Megan with the most amazing diamond ring.
Both Megan and Nick’s lives seemed to revolve around the ocean, so it was no surprise to anyone when they chose Noosa to celebrate their nuptials. Creating a simple, yet elegant chic coastal affair was paramount to both Megan and Nick so they chose Little Cove for their ceremony and Sails Restaurant Noosa for the reception. Good food and wine were both important components for Megan and Nick on their wedding day, and their focus for their celebration revolved around their guests relaxing, soaking up the sun, and enjoying the individual touches they incorporated into their coastal styled reception.

Real Wedding – Beccie & Stephen by Jodi McDonald
Stephen and Beccie met at a Ball in Polkolbin, New South Wales which was soon followed by a first date. Like many girls, Beccie recalls stressing over what to wear on that first date, but she needn’t have been concerned because Steve was more than smitten!
Stephen proposed to Beccie during a surprise early morning balloon ride over the Hunter Valley. Beccie had no idea that Stephen was about to propose, but after seeing a giant sign on the ground saying ‘Marry Me’ she quickly understood the reason behind the early morning adventure ride.
Beccie is a 1950’s vintage clothing model, and it is a style that she loves to wear every day. It was therefore important to the couple to have a vintage inspired wedding, which also featured some French themed opulence. The couple chose Spicers Clovelly Estate to celebrate their special day, and held their ceremony under the grand Jacaranda tree that features in the manicured grounds of the venue. The ceremony was then followed by an intimate “dinner party” style reception in the restaurant. Beccie and Stephen’s wedding turned into a three day celebration with their 22 guests travelling to Montville for a mini-holiday. All guests stayed at the property and Beccie and Stephen had the wonderful opportunity to reminisce and spend time with close friends and family.

Real Wedding – Amanda & Tom by Chesterton Smith Photography
Amanda and Tom were having a romantic dinner while holidaying in Bali when Tom proposed a toast to Amanda, asked her to marry him and presented her with a beautiful diamond ring.
Both Tom and Amanda love the outdoors and therefore decided on an outdoor wedding ceremony on a picturesque grassy plateau that offered spectacular views. The beautiful spot overlooked a national park and was adorned with a rose entwined archway, rose trees and rose petals.
Tom and Amanda’s reception was also styled to fit with their garden wedding theme. The indoor pavilion area was decorated with hanging paper lanterns, fairy lights and floating swags hung from the ceiling. Roses and orchid floral designs featured on the tables, enhancing the garden style theme of the day. Family and friends took the opportunity to stay at the resort and enjoy the extended post wedding celebrations.

Real Wedding – Katrina & Matthew by Calli B Photography
Katrina and Matthew wanted an elegant yet simple wedding day and chose to have an intimate celebration at Maleny Manor. They both decided against having a bridal party and instead asked family members to make some unique contributions to their special day. For instance, two of Katrina’s cousins co-wrote a song that they then sang at the ceremony, the couple wrote their own vows, and Katrina’s sister and Matt’s best friend acted as witnesses. After a very emotional and heartfelt ceremony, guests enjoyed pre-dinner drinks and canapés on the lawn while Katrina and Matt shared some private time during their nearby location shots.
It is obvious that family is important to both Katrina and Matthew, and that they are adored by everyone around them. This was most noticeable in the formal speeches when the couple’s uncles, parents and grandparents all spoke openly and fondly of the couple. Matt made the last speech of the evening and according to Katrina there wasn’t a dry eye left in the room as he reminisced about his love for her and the journey they had both been on. What is clear from the beautiful images is the extraordinary amount of emotion and love demonstrated on the day as Katrina and Matthew celebrated their wedding day.

Real Wedding – Holly & Dylan by A Look Photography
Holly and Dylan met through mutual friends and both happily admit now that after their first meeting they didn’t even really like each other! After that first encounter, however, their paths seemed to cross frequently and they soon struck up a friendship that quickly turned to romance and in no time, the couple were inseparable. Dylan proposed to Holly while they were holidaying in Fiji, and soon after returning home to New South Wales the couple enthusiastically began planning their Sunshine Coast wedding day.
Holly and Dylan both wanted a beach wedding and decided on the popular location of Little Cove Noosa for their ceremony. They then celebrated with family and friends at a nearby Noosa restaurant. Holly and Dylan wanted the styling for their wedding day to reflect a very natural feel and so elements including twine, recycled card, eco paper and natural fabrics were incorporated into their theme. Holly had always wanted hydrangeas as the main feature of her wedding flowers. She also wanted to introduce a bold colour into her floral designs and therefore chose purple hydrangea blooms for the bouquets. The vibrance of colour worked perfectly against the girls’ neutral toned gowns and the deep, rich colour palette complemented the eco style beautifully.
“We have so many fond memories of our wedding day that we can’t say which our favourite part was; there were so many beautiful moments that when added together, shaped the happiest day of our lives.”

Real Wedding – Shaye & Matt by Andrea Sproxton
Shaye and Matt both love the beach so there was never any doubt in their minds that they would plan a beach wedding. The couple decided on a beach front ceremony at Marcoola Beach and then celebrated with family and friends at a poolside resort. The ceremony styling featured a bamboo canopy with draping fabric that fell softly and floated whimsically in the breeze. The reception incorporated some interesting natural elements that included sand and willow glass vase designs which were placed on rattan fibre table runners and gave the room a rustic beach feel. Shaye and Matt wanted to introduce a punch of colour into the wedding styling so they decided on orange coloured bridesmaids’ gowns, this incorporated a vibrant colour palette to the styling which highlighted the bouquets of feathery white dahlia blooms that the girls held. A brightly coloured Kombi Van was hired to transport the bridal party to the photography locations and for a little bit of fun the couple featured the quirky vehicle in some of the wedding images.
