Jayne and Nigel first met while both were backpacking around Europe in 2006. A pub crawl in Germany marked the beginning of this overseas romance and after they both returned home to Australia, Nigel relocated from Victoria to the Sunshine Coast to be closer to his sweetheart Jayne.
Two years later and while holidaying near his hometown in Victoria, Nigel popped the question to Jayne. Both wanted a wedding on the Sunshine Coast and decided on a casual theme with a stand up cocktail event at one of their favourite local restaurants. Jayne and Nigel’s six nieces and nephews, who were aged between one and five, made up the bridal party, and the day proved to a very relaxed occasion shared with their closest family and friends.
“We were determined not to sweat the small stuff. We knew we would have a great day as long as we had our favourite people around us.”

A close friend organised the flowers for the day, creating all the bouquets and arrangements as a gift to the bride and groom.
Jayne and Nigel chose a cocktail reception to encourage ‘mingling’ between guests.
A black and white theme created the base for the styling of the wedding day.
A three tier wedding cake with separate tier flavours including Mars bar chocolate, white chocolate, and milk chocolate was chosen.

the details….
Amy knew she had found the dress of her dreams when she tried it on and didn’t want to take it off! One of Amy’s closest friends revealed to her that she really expected Amy to come to breakfast the day after the ceremony, still wearing the dress.
Matt and Amy created welcome bags for their guests – all of whom had travelled to Maleny for their destination style wedding. Matt personally delivered the bags, which included champagne, bottled water, panadol, homemade fudge and other snacks and treats to the guests’ accommodation venues.
Matt surprised Amy by organising a string duet that played at the church prior to her arrival and during the service.
The reception featured a five course degustation menu with matching wines.
Flowers were a focus for Amy and Matt, with the bridal bouquets consisting of pastel blooms that highlighted the wedding colour palette. The reception featured elegant contemporary tall vase designs that tied in beautifully with the floral inspired theme of the day.

Amber and Craig

7 JANUARY 2011 | MALENY
Amber and Craig fondly remember their wedding day as one filled with amazing celebration. January’s Queensland floods had bought inclement weather to the Sunshine Coast, but luckily for Amber and Craig the rain stopped right before their ceremony and did not continue again until the following day. Their wedding day also presented the opportunity to make a surprise announcement that the couple were expecting their first child later that year.
Amber and Craig decided on an elegant black and white inspired styling concept for their wedding day, with bridesmaids wearing elegant black gowns accessorised with white floral bouquets. Amber wore a gorgeous ivory gown that was embellished with encrusted beading and featured a classic black bow at the waist. The wedding ceremony took place in the outdoor pavilion at Maleny Manor and the reception featured a five piece band that played an array of music for the guests to enjoy.
“We feel very lucky that the weather was nice to us and enabled the wedding of our dreams.”
the details…
The invitations were individually boxed with a glamorous black and white design which had a personalised red wax seal.
Amber and Craig each wrote personal words for each other to be shared at the ceremony.
A simple elegant floral theme focused on white blooms including phalaenopsis orchids, lisianthus and Singapore orchids. Black willow also featured in the table vase designs.
Amber and Craig’s cake included individual ‘Tiffany’ style boxes in chocolate and white chocolate ganache.
A DVD slideshow was shown at the reception and featured images of Craig and Amber throughout their life. Personal and emotional greetings from a close friend as well as Amber’s unwell “Nana”, both of whom were unable to attend the wedding, also featured in the slide show.

A black and white theme is a stylish way to make a glamorous statement with styling. From the stationery to the bridesmaids’ gowns the bold contrast of the colours will always have impact.
Amy and Thomas

24 SEPTEMBER 2010 | MALENY
Amy and Thomas wanted a vintage inspired wedding theme and decided that Maleny was the perfect location to celebrate their special day. Having been raised in small country towns, the rural environment in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland resonated closely with Amy, and Thomas’s family had a holiday home nearby so it was the ideal choice for both of them.
The couple chose a traditional church ceremony, and celebrated afterwards at a boutique style reception that featured Amy’s love of everything vintage. The lavender flower was Amy’s inspiration for her wedding theme and featured heavily throughout the floral designs, reception styling and colour palette of the day. Amy and Tom spent several weeks learning the Rumba, and although nervous, were delighted to be able to showcase the dance style before family and friends at the reception.
“I think the most special memory for us is when we called each other ‘husband’ and ‘wife’ for the first time. We will never forget that feeling. The location of our wedding was just magical, and the weather was perfect on the day.”
the details…
The bride chose a ‘Collette Dinnigan’ gown with a vintage feel featuring French cotton lace and a scalloped detail.
Amy also wore an elegant headpiece featuring a satin floral, lace leaves, netting and feathers.
Flowers that represented a very unstructured and ‘just picked from the garden’ feel were a focal point on the wedding day. Floral designs consisted of seasonal blooms and lavender, showcased with a colour palette of pink, purple, lilac, green and white.
Amy’s love for baking inspired her to hand make gingerbread heart cookies for her guest favours.
A lolly buffet including brightly coloured sweets and candy which fit beautifull with the wedding styling theme, stole the show at the reception.
